A Recent Event

Just imagine having to plan for a major association conference in which you must make critically needed changes to boost attendance and reinvigorate an entire association.  Your dream is to create an event that absolutely sets the bar high for all future events.

 

So you call a speaker who has worked with hundreds of organizations and has a national reputation for powerful, passionate speeches.  After a brief introductory conversation one of the first questions he asks is, “Please tell me about your theme and objectives so I can determine if I can make solid impact on your people?”  Without apology he makes it clear that if he can’t do what needs to be done then further conversation won’t be fruitful.  You have found your speaker.

The Keynote

Working at a brisk pace Mick quickly deals with the issues one-by-one using his 20+ years of organizational development experience.  His answers don’t come from the latest book they come from wisdom gained from being in the trenches dealing with real people and real issues.  Enthusiasm and interest is high, the time flies as everyone in the audience is completely and utterly engaged.

 

It seems that almost as quickly and powerfully as his keynote began Mick reaches a crescendo; relating everything back to the five keys things his audience absolutely must take away, five proven tools to improve their business and re-engage the passion of their people.  The audience has had a wonderful and memorable experience!

 

American Idol?
But wait, it’s not over!  Mick comes back later in the event to review the key-issue presentations, complimenting the participants on just how effective they really were and offering advice that would send them completely over the top.  Solid, practical advice association members can use immediately.  All this as he and two other conference organizers play “American Idol” judges who poke fun at each other and the participants.  The audience loves it!

 

Time is short and the conference is nearing the end.  Finally, Mick facilitates an hour long discussion on barriers to using all of the wonderful new tools they have learned at the conference and more importantly they go home with proven techniques to begin making changes first thing Monday morning.  The audience walks away refreshed and has a whole new outlook; the conference is wildly successful, the members will definitely be back next year.  Priceless…
